Hi everyone! It's been a while but I just wanted to clue you all in on how I would be reviewing anime, both films and shows. I will also be making a list of what I would take into consideration when it comes to video games and manga/manhwa/webcomics.
Now when it comes to reviewing anime, there will be very little differences when it comes to either films or shows. What will be looked at in both forms will be:
Art style: In other words, how does the style complement the story or not? Also, the creativity of the art style choice will be taken into consideration. An example of an anime in my opinion that has a creative and beautiful art style is Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. However, an anime that I find lacking in style or creativity is Mars of Destruction/Hametsu no Mars (although that is not the only thing I find wrong with Mars of Destruction).
Narrative: What is the story? What are the tropes that are being used and do these tropes affect the narrative positively or negatively? Is there a message within? If there is, how is being shown and how well is it being shown? Does the story keep me captivated in continuing the film/series?
And,
Voice Acting: Who is in the cast? Did I watch the sub or dub? (Depends on the content, not all animes have dubs so it may not apply) Are the voice actor(s)/seiyuu(s) chosen for the main cast good, why or why not? If why not, who might be a better casting decision?
Even though this is something that is in both series and films, the pacing will be evaluated differently, since pacing within a show and a film are different.
Pacing:
Series: How many episodes does it take to complete an arc compared to the manga? Does it fit or is there filler? Is the filler worth watching?
Film: How does the narrative fit within the pacing? Does the pacing seem fast or slow? If it is fast or slow, why?
So this is all of what I'll be taking into consideration when reviewing Anime series/films. Hopefully, I can get a review or my qualifications for reviews of video games or manga/manhwa/webcomics out soon. Thanks for reading!
